Beatrice Peterson ’12

Political Reporter

ABC News

Beatrice Peterson is a National Enterprise Reporter at ABC News, where she covers the White House, national security, intelligence, Congress and elections in the United States and abroad. With more than a decade of journalism experience, she has built a reputation for authoritative reporting on the inner workings of federal power, with a focus on public safety, Black political organizing and the U.S. intelligence community.

A second-generation Washingtonian, Beatrice pairs deep institutional knowledge of the nation’s capital with a sourcing network that spans both sides of the aisle and the highest levels of government. She has covered both Tulsi Gabbard and Kamala Harris since 2012, offering rare continuity across multiple political eras.

In November 2025, Beatrice secured the only known long-form exclusive interview with Director of National Intelligence Gabbard, a 90-minute conversation that traced her evolution from congresswoman and Army veteran to the nation’s top intelligence official. Her work continues to resonate with audiences. In February 2026, five of the 10 most-read stories on ABCNews.com carried her byline.

Before joining ABC News in 2018, Beatrice spent four years at Politico, where she created and hosted Today in Trumpworld, a daily video franchise covering the Trump administration.

Beatrice is a graduate of Trinity Washington University and holds a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University’s Columbia Journalism School. Her work has been recognized by Glamour and Harper’s Bazaar.
