Trinity & Borough of Manhattan Community College Announce Transfer Pathway
Trinity Washington University and the Borough of Manhattan Community College are pleased to partner on an articulation agreement that provides BMCC graduates a seamless pathway to baccalaureate education at Trinity in Washington, DC, the nation’s capital. Students can choose from a variety of professional disciples – Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Nursing, Psychology, Public Health and various liberal arts programs – in both the daytime women’s College of Arts & Sciences and the co-educational evening and weekend School of Professional Studies. Also, Trinity’s RN-BSN program is fully online, making it extremely accessible in today’s marketplace.
“Today is historic for both BMCC and Trinity Washington University,” said BMCC President Anthony E. Munroe at the agreement signing ceremony, July 25, 2023, “two venerable institutions with long-standing commitments to transforming people and communities. BMCC and Trinity prepare leaders, many of whom are Black and Hispanic—and women — to make significant contributions in society. At BMCC, we strive to equalize access to a quality education, careers with family sustaining wages, and an enhanced quality of life. We are proud to strengthen this commitment with our collaboration with Trinity Washington University.”
Both Trinity and BMCC are Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) as designated by the U.S. Department of Education; both are Hispanic Serving Institutions and Trinity is also a Predominantly Black Institution. This timely partnership responds to the national call to create seamless transfer pathways for students from community colleges to continue in baccalaureate programs. The Trinity-BMCC pathway ensures that students who start out at BMCC can continue at advanced degree levels, staying on track to graduation without losing earned credit or accruing additional debt to make up lost credits. By following the pathways at BMCC and at Trinity, students who meet Trinity’s admissions requirements will enjoy guaranteed admission, assurance that all credits will transfer, and confidence that their major courses will be accepted on the major tracks. These assurances mean that students can graduate on time and within budget while receiving the world-class educations that characterize learning at BMCC and Trinity.
Trinity is proud to hold up the BMCC partnership as its first articulation with a college in another city that adds to Trinity’s portfolio of agreements with community colleges in the DMV region. All Trinity’s articulation agreements aim to make transfer as seamless as possible for incoming students. Trinity can be a welcoming home for students from New York and elsewhere who want to explore the opportunities to study, learn and grow in the nation’s capital – a fantastic opportunity.
Seamless transfers between BMCC and Trinity include — among others — bachelor’s programs in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, and Psychology from both Trinity’s College of Arts & Sciences (daytime, weekday classes for women) and the School of Professional Studies (nighttime, weekend coeducational classes). The partnership also includes School of Nursing and Health Professions degrees in Public Health, and the online R.N. to Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Trinity prepares professional nurses completing their bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) to deliver safe, competent, and quality care from an ethical, holistic, and caring framework. Graduates from the Trinity’s RN-BSN program are educated to help meet the healthcare needs of diverse populations and communities and to provide health leadership and advocacy for local and global populations. The fully on-line RN-BSN allows registered nurses to complete their BSN in one calendar year with scholarships of $10,000 available to full-time students.
