CCNEThe Trinity Nursing Program offers advanced placement for Registered Nurses holding an associate’s degree or diploma in nursing. This 100% online program is designed for the adult learner. RNs admitted into the program may receive credit for general education and nursing courses. In order to receive a degree from Trinity, the transcript must reflect 120 credits, with 32 of those taken in residence at the University. Students may transfer up to 32 credits in nursing. Upon admission, students may complete the program on a full-time or part-time basis.

All courses in the RN-BSN program are 100% online. The baccalaureate degree can be completed in one year.

Licensure and Certification Information

Students completing a pre-licensure/certification, e.g., Nursing, OTA-B, MOT, and Counseling programs at Trinity Washington University are eligible to sit for their respective discipline’s national licensure examination. Successful completion of the examination is required for practice and for licensure in most states. In most cases, state licensure/certification is based on the results of the respective national examination (NCSBN). Students should contact the appropriate state licensing board for your place of residence to determine if the program at Trinity Washington University can lead to licensure in your state. Students should contact the appropriate state licensure/certification board where the student plans to practice should that be in a jurisdiction other than the student’s place of residence.

What You’ll Learn

Trinity will accept a maximum of 32 credits from a nursing program that is part of an educational institution that has accreditation by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and that holds current accreditation from a national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Trinity is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887- 6791.

Conway Scholarship

The Conway Scholarship is available to each student for up to five years of enrollment as long as the student continues to achieve at the high levels expected at entrance. In addition to the Conway Scholarship and Trinity’s own merit scholarships and other financial aid resources, Trinity will provide a financial aid package up to the total cost of enrollment depending upon the student’s financial need.

Criteria & How to Apply

Scholarship awarded to selected sophomores.

Conway Scholarship criteria

  • Must be sophomore status or above in semester that scholarship will be awarded (at least 24 credits completed)
  • Overall GPA of at least 3.0 (including all colleges and universities attended)
  • Science GPA of at least 2.75
  • B- or higher grade in nursing prerequisite courses
  • At least one science course (with lab) completed
  • At least one math course completed

How to apply for the scholarship

  • Complete the application form (open to current Trinity students and DOI transfer students)
  • Eligible applicants will be invited to participate in the Conway Scholars Interview Day (interview with nursing faculty)
  • After interviews, students who are selected for the scholarship will be notified via email (after current semester grades are submitted)

Conway Scholarship Amounts

CAS full time award amounts:

  • Sophomore year (pre-nursing) $10,000
  • Junior year (once accepted into the BSN Program) $20,000
  • Senior year $20,000

SPS part time award amounts:

  • Up to $10,000 distributed throughout remaining pre-nursing credits (awarded per semester based on total enrolled pre-nursing credits – $334 per credit)
  • $40,000 distributed throughout nursing program (awarded per semester based on total enrolled nursing credits – $656 per credit)

2nd Degree:

Scholarship awarded to eligible pre-health profession second baccalaureate students per semester (based on enrolled nursing prerequisite credits). Second baccalaureate degree students do not need to apply for the scholarship.

Scholarship awarded to students accepted into the nursing program:

Students accepted into the nursing program do not need to submit an application for the Conway Scholarship. Note that current Conway Scholars who were first awarded the scholarship as new freshmen will remain on the original scholarship award structure of $10,000 per year while pre-nursing (freshman and sophomore years) and $15,000 per year after accepted into nursing program (junior and senior years).
Full time BSN students award amounts:
  • Junior year (first year in the BSN Program) $20,000
  • Senior year (second year in the BSN Program) $20,000
Part time BSN students award amount:
  • $40,000 distributed throughout nursing program
  • Awarded per semester based on total enrolled nursing credits ($656 per credit)
