Tigers Basketball’s Taryn Yancey makes Trinity history
Senior, and Occupational Therapy Assistant major, Yancey, is the first player in Trinity history to score 1000 career points.
On Saturday, January 25th, Trinity witnessed greatness from their very own Taryn Yancey. Taryn is the first in school history to score 1,000 career points for the women’s basketball team. In her 4 years with Trinity, she averaged 17.5 points per game and so far this season she is averaging 18.5 points per game. On top of her athletic performance, Taryn has been an incredible student in the classroom. Taryn is an Occupational Therapy major juggling her clinicals and classes while making sure she makes it to practice and games on time. Head coach Jerome Cooke stated, “I’ve witnessed Ms. Yanceys, work ethic, dedication, and determination to reaching her academic and athletic goals. Her relentless pursuit is the driving force behind her ambition to achieve greatness. ” Achieving academic and athletic excellence is a difficult task, but Taryn has successfully done so. The Trinity community is exceptionally proud of her accomplishments both on and off the court.
“Coming in on the back end of Taryn’s journey to 1000 points has been an absolute blessing,” Assistant Coach Rhonda Jackson on Taryn. “Her relentless commitment to pushing beyond her own expectations is truly commendable and a testament to her dedication. She is an asset to the Tigers Basketball program.”
