American University's School of Education

Jason Pier, a marketing and communications professional, is currently the director of strategic communications and marketing at American University’s School of Education. He is responsible for uplifting the school’s brand to increase admissions and secure national rankings for the school, communicating with students, alumni, and the greater education community. He worked on communicating the largest gift in American University’s history to rename the School of Education, interviews students and alumni, and is the chief storyteller for the school. In this position, he draws on the expertise he gained through his two degrees from Trinity, in business and communications, and his 20-plus years in higher education marketing.
For nearly 10 years, Pier was the assistant vice president for marketing and communications for Trinity where he developed and coordinated the marketing of the university from admissions to alumni relations and giving, and collaborated with the assistant vice president of online marketing on Trinity’s web presence, including social media. He designed, wrote, and edited a wide range of publications, including admissions marketing brochures and the university’s magazine, TRINITY.
While working full time at Trinity, he earned his bachelor of science in business administration from Trinity in 2008, and immediately continued his studies at Trinity, earning a master of arts in communication in 2011.
He most recently was director of marketing for the American Council on Education where he provided strategic vision in the planning, creation, and execution of integrated marketing strategies in support of growing new revenue streams and engaging member schools to grow annual membership dues. He developed and implemented strategies to engage target audiences with ACE’s professional learning products, campus transformation programs, in-house research, and related services to enhance ACE’s position as thought leaders.
Prior to working at Trinity, he was the production and design manager for NACUBO, the National Association of College and University Business Officers, and production coordinator for Ernst & Young’s D.C. office.
