Trinity Undergraduate Students represent Trinity at research conferences, abroad
Our undergraduate students have been actively presenting their research at conferences, engaging with scholarly communities, applying to study abroad programs, and representing Trinity with professionalism and intellectual curiosity. Congratulations to the following students and their faculty mentors on a series of outstanding accomplishments.
National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) 2026: Kaletra Arnold (Senior, Global Affairs, shown above) presented her research titled “Regulating a Revolution: Quantum Computing Data Centers in Washington, Tennessee, and California Tied to Systemic Violence Through Legal and Regulatory Structures” at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) 2026, April 13-15, 2026, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, VA. Her faculty mentor was Dr. James Stocker.
2026 STEM Student Research Poster Awards Competition: Two Trinity students, J’Kaylah Beasley (Senior, General Studies) and Dania Nettles (Senior, General Studies), received awards for their research posters at the Jewel Joyner Student Research Poster Competition, named in honor of Trinity’s own Jewel, a NASA Scholar in 2024. J’Kaylah Beasley won 2nd place, and Dania Nettles won an honorable mention. Dania’s faculty mentor was Dr. Patrice Nielson.
Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) Supernova 2026 – Annual Scholar Celebration & Symposium: Jessica Jean Pierre ( Junior, Biology) and Masai Oakes ( Senior, Mathematics), accompanied by Dr. Shizuka Hsieh attended the event on April 20, 2026, at The City Club in San Francisco at the invitation of Dr. Barbara Glynn’64 Trustee Emerita. The event featured panel discussions on scientific topics (like AI and climate change), and poster sessions showcasing scholar research.
The following students have been awarded funding (scholarships/travel awards) to support their study abroad experiences this summer. This exciting opportunity reflects their strong academic achievement as well as their commitment to global learning.
Benjamin Gilman Scholarship: Aniya Peay ( Junior, Global Affairs/History) has received a Benjamin Gilman Scholarship to support her study abroad. She will be spending 6 weeks this summer in Athens, Greece. Dr. James Stocker encouraged and guided her to apply for the scholarship.
Carmel Institute Study Abroad Trip: Yekaterina Vinogradov (Junior, Global Affairs) was selected by the Carmel Institute of Russian Culture & History in a very competitive application process to be one of a handful of students participating in a study abroad trip. She will be spending a week (expenses paid) in Turkey in June. The Culture of Eastern Orthodoxy: From Constantinople to Eurasia will combine pre-assigned readings with visits to museums, galleries, and concerts in Istanbul, Türkiye, to explore the role of Byzantine Orthodoxy in forming the cultural and historical space of Western Eurasia from Anatolia and the Balkans to Russia and Eastern Europe. Dr. Allen Pietrobon encouraged and guided her to apply for the scholarship.
These accomplishments would not be possible without the guidance and mentorship of our dedicated faculty, whose support continues to inspire student success.
