Philosophy
I have developed and employed a very simple teaching philosophy in my classroom: “Critical thinking, Creativity, Compassion.†This philosophy has made my classroom an open, non-threatening environment where students are given the opportunity to think critically and engage actively in the learning process. I refuse to rely on one particular teaching strategy to engage and educate my students. Each student learns differently; therefore, I vary teaching techniques to afford them an optimal learning experience. My teaching philosophy echoes the words of Dr. Roger Lewin, "Too often we give children answers to remember rather than problems to solve." I believe in challenging students while simultaneously entertaining and providing them with the tools they need to be successful, both in and out of the classroom--critical thinking, creativity and compassion.
