Simulation Laboratory Coordinator

Salary Range: 60k to 64k (Annually)

Trinity Washington University seeks a Simulation Laboratory Coordinator. This position will be under the direction and supervision of the Director of Clinical Simulation and Laboratory Operations, the Chief Nursing Officer, and the Dean of NHP, the individual will provide technical support for all simulation and laboratory operations and coordination of multiple aspects of the clinical learning spaces on campus. This position supports Inter-Professional Education (IPE), immersive simulation experiences, and other scheduled patient simulation learning activities for multiple health care programs. This position has no responsibility for providing direct care to patients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or certified EMT or RT or licensed RN) in area of health sciences and/or technology is preferred.
  • Previous experience in simulation lab preferred.
  • Previous undergraduate classroom experience required.
  • CPR Certification required.

License, Tools & Equipment:

  • Must have access to and use of own or public transportation.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of health care simulation, technologies and applications.
  • Basic knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to simulator functions.
  • Knowledge of audio/video equipment and software for recording, duplication, mixing and editing.
  • Proficiency in MS software applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Internet and database applications.
  • Ability to learn new software and hardware quickly and independently.
  • Ability to assess, troubleshoot, and fix equipment failures in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding job assignments and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to work with internal and external individuals from different disciplines and different levels of training.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel both independently and as a team member in a lively, collaborative environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environment; able to work evenings/weekends on as needed basis.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

  Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of all BLS (CPR) courses and collaboration with Children’s Hospital Center AHA Center
  • Scheduling of simulation sessions in collaboration with the new Director of Simulation to meet NHP program needs
  • Coordination of all nursing lab and simulation inventory
  • Coordination of all maintenance for all nursing lab and simulation equipment
  • Coordinate and conduct faculty and student orientation to the nursing labs and simulation center
  • Maintenance and updates to the Anatomage table (includes faculty training and orientation)
  • Orientation for any new staff and/or student workers in the nursing skills or simulation labs
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Understand the use and operation of different simulator technology.
  • Serve as simulator operator running pre-programmed scenarios with faculty instructors, assuring all equipment is set up for programs and courses.
  • Support/assist in role playing applications, props placement and moulage set-up.
  • Provide technical assistance, support and training to faculty, instructors and staff in use of simulation equipment, as necessary.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and conduct routine inventory updates.
  • Provide recommendations for budgeting and purchase of equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Performs basic preventative maintenance of simulation and laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct ongoing maintenance of all simulation and laboratory equipment, including cleaning, repairing, assuring that all equipment is maintained in good working order at all times.
  • Maintain record of repairs required and completed.
  • Interface with equipment manufacturers regarding equipment troubleshooting and system problems.
  • Attends meetings or continuing education to maintain currency with simulation and laboratory technology and use.
  • Maintain current knowledge of simulation and laboratory equipment catalogs and operation manuals.
  • Participate in technical training as necessary.
  • Assist with special projects or initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time.
  • Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
  • Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, in hand-written forms, and printed on paper.
  • Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Must be able to independently move equipment (less than 25 lbs.) and move manikins (less than 50 lbs.) with the assistance of others.
