Black and Missing Foundation

Natalie Wilson is the co-founder and chief operating officer of the Black and Missing Foundation, Inc. (BAMFI), whose mission is to bring awareness to missing persons of color, provide vital resources and tools to missing person’s families and friends, and to educate the minority community on personal safety. Wilson is involved in all aspects of BAMFI’s operations, including the development and execution of strategic outreach and media relations to ensure coverage of the foundation’s mission and initiatives. In November 2021, HBO featured Wilson’s work in a four-part documentary, “Black and Missing.”  The series, by Emmy winner Geeta Gandbhir and award-winning documentarian, journalist, author and activist Soledad O’Brien, series follows sisters-in-law and Black and Missing Foundation founders Natalie and Derrica as they fight an uphill battle to bring awareness to the Black missing person cases that are marginalized by law enforcement and national media. She earned her master of arts in communications from Trinity in 2003 and earned her bachelor of arts in psychology from Howard University.

Wilson knows the power and reach of media coverage. She has garnered local, national and international media placements with platforms, such as the Associated Press, CNN, Essence, Fox 5 DC, Huffington Post, NPR, Oxygen.com, People, The View, Oprah Daily, and the Washington Post, which continue to keep the issue of missing and exploited persons of color in the forefront.

With more than 15 years of experience in public relations and marketing, she knows first hand the challenges nonprofits face in garnering media coverage and publicity for their organization or cause. She is the founder and CEO of the NWR Communications Group, an award-winning strategic communications firm specializing in helping nonprofits and foundations committed to social justice issues gain visibility for their cause through publicity and media strategies. Her skills include nonprofit development, communications, marketing, media relations, digital media and crisis management. She is a Black Girls Rock 2017 “Community Change Agent” awardee.
