Dr. Karen Archambault ’03 is vice president of enrollment management and student success at Rowan College at Burlington County. She earned her master of arts in counseling from Trinity in 2003. She received her bachelor’s degree in history from Salisbury University, her master of arts in history from Old Dominion University, and her doctorate in educational leadership from Rowan University where her research investigated community college students’ preparation for transfer.
In her current work at Rowan College, she oversees the areas that impact student enrollment and success including admissions, financial aid, registration, athletics, student life and activities. She also oversees the college’s retention programs including programs for honors students, low income students, military and veteran students, and students with disabilities. She always considers advising her professional “home.”
Archambault’s professional passion is in supporting those for whom higher education was not originally designed, including transfer students, students of color, and staff members who may find themselves in search of a professional home. A historian by training, she teaches the history of higher education at the graduate level, with a focus on historical equity in higher education, and writes on transfer students, first year advising, and cultural competence for advisors.
Dr. Karen Archambault began her career as a student affairs professional in 1999. She was the program coordinator for UMBC’s (University of Maryland, Baltimore County) partnership with the Universities at Shady Grove. She served as the director of student services for the branch campus and higher education centers for Brookdale Community College where she was committed to ensuring that students have a high quality educational experience while attending any of the college’s regional locations. She supervised a cross-functional Student Success Center team in their efforts toward providing assistance with admissions, registration, financial aid, learning assistance, advising, and student life. She served as the executive director of Drexel Central, a one-stop shop for financial aid, bursar, and registration services for Drexel University.
She is an active member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, She served as president of NACADA from 2018 to 2019.
