Dr. Rachel Poirier joined the psychology department as an assistant professor in the fall of 2024, following her role as a post-doctoral fellow in STEM Education at Trinity. Dr. Poirier earned her Ph.D. from Binghamton University, where her research focused on language and memory, particularly in the realm of reading comprehension. Dedicated to fostering student engagement, Dr. Poirier integrates her knowledge of cognition into her teaching by using real-world applications and active learning methods. She is passionate about sparking interest in cognitive psychology research and its applications. Additionally, Dr. Poirier continues to collaborate with the STEM Education team to publish research aimed at fostering a sense of belonging in science students.
