On Campus Work Study: ECA Math Tutor
Position Overview
Academic Services is seeking a dedicated ECA Math Tutor to support students in MATH 102 and MATH 123 for Fall 2026. Reporting directly to the Director of Academic Services, Dr. Kimberly LaBoone, the ECA Tutor is an integral member of the Trinity tutoring team.
This role works directly with the Early College Academy (ECA), a dual-enrollment program enabling high school students to earn an Associate’s Degree alongside their high school diploma. ECA Tutors serve as academic leaders at Trinity, acting as trusted peers and role models while guiding students through college-level math coursework.
Key Responsibilities
- ECA Study Hall (Required): Facilitate weekly scheduled ECA study halls, assisting students with math assignments, problem-solving strategies, and exam preparation.
- Tutoring Center Hours: Host flexible walk-in and one-on-one/small-group tutoring sessions in the Tutoring Center based on student demand and tutoring requests.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Model strong academic habits, time management, and critical thinking skills to help dual-enrollment students transition smoothly into college rigor.
- Best Practices: Demonstrate and teach effective study skills and learning techniques.
Schedule & Hours
- Attendance: Weekly attendance at the scheduled ECA Study Hall is required (Mondays & Wednesdays, 10:30 – 11:15 am).
Variable Hours: Actual working hours vary based on course meeting times, the tutor’s individual academic schedule, and student tutoring requests.
Key Competencies & Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in MATH 102 & MATH 123.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Patience and the ability to adapt explanation styles to diverse learning needs.
- Passion for mentoring high school students in a dual-enrollment setting.
