On Campus Work Study: Conference Services Student Worker

This position acts as an official representative of Trinity Washington University and is responsible for the following:

  • assisting with event/conference housing management
  • scheduling of events/conference housing
  • assisting with set-up/breakdown for both internal and external events
  • maintaining event/conference housing reports, contracts, and invoices
  • serves as a liaison between Trinity’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) and conference guests
  • provides customer service and assistance as needed to conference guests
  • ability to work with various university departments including (but not limited to), post office/copy center
  • facilities, public safety, and catering
  • maintaining a high standard of personal appearance
  • ability to follow the policies and procedures set forth by the Executive Director and Director of Conferences Services for the department
  • occasionally assisting with the needs of conference housing guests as they arise outside of office hours
  • cover the reception desk at the Payden Academic Center as

Qualifications:

  • must be a Trinity Washington University student and registered for the 2024 Fall Semester;
  • must be able to dedicate a minimum of 10 hours a week to Conference Services and be eligible for Federal Work Study
  • experience working within a public-service-oriented environment is encouraged
  • must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with email correspondence
  • ability to react and respond to urgent situations
  • able to work under pressure, adjust to changes while maintaining great attention to detail and have the ability to multitask
  • must have the ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and prioritize assignments with minimal supervision
  • must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Drive is a plus
  • knowledge of the city and its various transportation systems is helpful
  • living on campus or within 10-15 minutes of campus is strongly preferred
  • must be able to promote departmental and University policies, represent the University, Housing & Residential Services, and Conference Services departments to guests in a positive and supportive manner
  • show diplomacy while working with individuals from many backgrounds and of all ages
  • ability to complete occasional physical tasks related to events and therefore be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • must be available to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays (will work around class schedule)

Period of Service:

August 2024 to December 2024
