Executive Director of Human Resources

Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, seeks a Chief Human Resources Officer with the title Executive Director of Human Resources. Reporting directly to the president, the Executive Director is responsible for the oversight and administration of all Human Resources functions and activities at Trinity, and is a member of the Senior Executive Staff. Celebrating its 125th Anniversary, Trinity sustains its historic daytime women’s college while also offering coeducational graduate and professional programs. Rooted in the Catholic mission for social justice, Trinity today is both a Predominantly Black and Hispanic Serving Institution enrolling about 2000 students from throughout the Washington region.

The Executive Director manages all typical HR duties including recruitment, hiring, compensation, benefits, payroll, professional development, employee assessment, compliance and all related issues. The ED supervises a staff that includes the Director of Talent Acquisition, Director of Benefits and Payroll, and HR Coordinator. The ED works closely with all senior executives, vice presidents, deans and departmental managers.

The successful candidate for this position will have experience in a similar institution, small in size and deeply devoted to pursuing a mission to serve students, particularly women of color, who have experienced marginalization but have high ambition to earn degrees that will put them and their families on a transformative pathway to life success. Experience leading personnel management for a women’s college, and particularly a Catholic women’s college with a broadly diverse student body, is preferred.

Candidates should be ready to present evidence of significant contributions to change management in the HR practices of their current employer, including in the areas of benefits administration, use of technology to improve HR efficiency and effectiveness, and development of employee education programs. Candidates must present at least a bachelor’s degree with progressively responsible experience in HR management across at least ten years.
