Counselor/Clinical Supervisor position (Part-time) 

 

Trinity Washington University seeks a Counselor/Clinical Supervisor for the Health and Wellness Center. The Health and Wellness Center supports the academic mission of Trinity by providing professional health and wellness services to Trinity Washington University students.  The Counselor/Clinical Supervisor assists the Director, and Health Center staff with providing health services to students.   The Counselor’s primary focus is on providing short term counseling/therapy to graduate and undergraduate students at Trinity Washington University.  This position provides a full range of clinical and non-clinical social work services and provides supervision of other counselors in the Health Center.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  • A Master’s degree in Social Work is required 
  • Must be licensed in the District of Columbia (LICSW) 
  • Must carry malpractice insurance 
  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program or a doctoral degree in social work 
  • Experience with mental health provision in a college or university counseling center 
  • Clinical supervision experience and reviewing clinical documentation for services rendered by supervisees  

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

 

  • Demonstrated experience of mental and wellness needs of college women  
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills  
  • Ability to work in a diverse community with staff and students 
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment 
  • Experience providing a broad range of psychotherapy and counseling methods in a brief therapy model 
  • Ability to use crisis intervention skills and respond to emergencies as needed 
  • Experience specifically focused on the needs of students of color, students from indigenous communities, LGBTQIA students, international students, students from diverse religious affiliations, students with disabilities, undocumented students, and/or first-generation college students on a university campus 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 

  • Provide individual therapy, group therapy, case management, and crisis intervention to students 
  • Review clinical documentation for services rendered by supervisees  
  • Provide clinical oversight for counselors providing counseling services  
  • Keep timely, accurate, and ethical records consistent with Trinity’s policy 
  • Conduct outreach, workshops and training on various mental health and wellbeing topics as needed; collaborate with other Health and Wellness Center staff 
  • Develop sound treatment goals and means by which to measure the levels of progress of the patient 
  • Assist with the arrangement for off-campus referrals for students as necessary 
  • Keep timely, accurate, and ethical records consistent with Trinity’s policy 
  • Comply with confidentiality requirements as set by HIPAA, FERPA, federal, state and local regulation 

 

Work Schedule 

  • 20-24 hours per week Monday – Friday 
  • There may be opportunity for educational programs in the evenings and weekends
