Trinity, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in Mathematics beginning fall 2025. The successful candidate will be nominated for designation as a Clare Boothe Luce Professor of Mathematics.

Trinity is one of the nation’s historic women’s colleges, now also a Predominantly Black and Hispanic Serving Institution. Approximately 900 women enroll in the College of Arts & Sciences, Trinity’s full-time undergraduate program. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Faculty candidates should be able to demonstrate familiarity with inclusive excellence principles or related pedagogy. Trinity’s model of inclusive excellence pedagogy includes significant opportunities for mentoring as well as undergraduate research and experiential learning opportunities.

Trinity seeks dynamic candidates having expertise in both mathematical theory and applications, with significant interest and experience in working with practical data and digital technology. The hiring committee especially encourages applications from scholars working in the areas of applied statistics and data analysis.

This position is responsible for undergraduate instruction in math major courses, foundational general education math courses as well as statistics/data driven courses. The normal teaching load is three courses per semester.

Qualifications:

  • A doctorate degree in Mathematics or a directly related field is required.  Classes in the college are taught mostly in-person, but experience teaching online is also valued.
  • In addition to teaching and curricular development responsibilities, expectations for this tenure-track position include an active scholarship/research agenda, and service to the College of Arts and Sciences and University through committee work and other administrative activities.
