Three Years. One Transformative Journey. Honors Program.

Eligibility, Application & Program Policies

Eligibility & Application

Students who have applied to Trinity and have earned a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher will be nominated for the Honors Program.

Nominated students will receive an official invitation from the Office of Admissions requesting a written response to a series of short prompts.

The Honors Selection Committee will thoughtfully review all submitted responses and select students for admission to the program based on the strength of their application.

Probation Policy

Students in the Honors Program must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in required Honors courses to remain in good standing. Any student who earns below a B- in an Honors course at the end of a regular academic term will be placed on probation for the following semester.

During probation, the student must meet periodically with the program chair to review academic progress and will be ineligible for funding for conferences and special programming. While retaking the course is not required, the student must earn a B- or higher in all Honors courses during the probationary semester to be removed from probation.

Failure to meet this requirement, or earning another unsatisfactory grade in a future semester, will result in dismissal from the program. Honors students are also expected to meet the university’s standards for good academic standing (see the student handbook for details).

Dismissal from the Honors Program does not affect a student’s overall university standing or eligibility for graduation. Students may appeal to the Honors Committee for reinstatement if they believe extenuating circumstances warrant reconsideration.
