Adjunct Faculty – Fine Art (Experiencing Musical Art) for Early College Academy

Adjunct Faculty — Fine Arts – Spring 2025

Trinity Washington University, a comprehensive institution in the nation’s capital, seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach the following section of the 3-credit class – FNAR 241: Experiencing Musical Art, for the Early College Academy (ECA) program in the College of Arts & Sciences for Spring 2025. The course explores musical elements such as melody, harmony, rhythm, and texture as they are experienced in rituals, religious and healing ceremonies, dancing, and performance in the United States and around the world.

This is a 3-credit course with the following meeting times (this is a face-to-face course for Spring 2025).

FNAR 241/ECA1 (3 credits): Tu & Th 9:00 AM – 10:15 AM

These are in-person classes on Trinity’s campus. Spring 2025 classes begin on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 and end on Friday, May 2, 2025 – followed by the final exam week.

Compensation – $965/credit

The Early College Academy (ECA) is a full-time dual enrollment program offered by Trinity to select students enrolled in the Early College Academy program at DCPS’ Coolidge Senior High School. Through the Program, 10th grade Academy students have the opportunity to apply for admission to the 11th and 12th grade component of the Academy, through which accepted students maintain a full-time schedule of college courses at Trinity, taken for dual DCPS high school and Trinity college credit.

Successful candidate should have earned at least a Master’s degree, from an accredited institution and be able to demonstrate strong teaching skills. Previous undergraduate classroom experience required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching dual enrollment students, and who demonstrate excellence with engaged and active learning practices.

Official transcripts for all degrees earned, sample course syllabi, course evaluations and/or other evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three professional references will be needed if the candidate is invited to campus for an interview. Knowledge of best teaching practices is required. Finalists will be invited to campus for an interview and teaching demonstration. Preference given to candidates who demonstrate excellence with engaged and active learning practices.
