Michelle Mitchell ’06
Strategic Communities Program Manager
Michelle Mitchell leads Facebook’s Strategic Communities Initiative, working closely with Facebook’s entertainment, news and sports partnerships teams and Instagram team. Her objective is to make representation “real” — increasing equity and driving value creation for diverse, underrepresented media partners. “We ensure high quality content which drives measurable business results. In this fast-growing landscape, our team is working closely with media partners on driving business value on Facebook through building, reaching and engaging audiences, and pushing the envelope for innovative content experiences. My role supports strategic communities on our platforms by enabling our entire organization to better serve the partners that resonate most with these audiences.”
A lawyer, she first joined Facebook in 2016 as the lead compliance counsel for global trade compliance and was promoted to associate general counsel for global trade compliance.
Michelle Mitchell graduated from Trinity in 2006, with a double major in political science and economics. She served as president of Trinity’s Student Government and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society. While a Trinity student, she interned with Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, a Trinity graduate who is currently the Speaker of the House – the first and only woman to be elected to this national leadership position.
Michelle Mitchell received a Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship to attend law school at Georgetown University. While in law school, she was a judicial intern for the Honorable Rosemary Collyer, a Trinity graduate and federal judge appointed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. After she earned her law degree, Michelle Mitchell was an attorney at two prestigious law firms in Washington, D.C.
