Kelly Lee ’20

Adjunct Laboratory Instructor

Trinity Washington University

Kelly Lee ’20 is a proud alumna of Trinity Washington University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2020, graduating cum laude. She continued her academic journey at the University of the District of Columbia, earning a Master of Science in Cancer Biology, Prevention, and Control. Currently, Kelly is pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at American University, where she is building her expertise in mental health, research, and culturally responsive care.

Kelly’s passion for education and service has been a constant throughout her journey. While at Trinity, she tutored a range of science and math courses, helping students strengthen their understanding and confidence across disciplines. Her commitment to supporting others extended beyond the classroom through her two years of service with AmeriCorps City Year DC. During her first year, she worked directly with elementary school students, providing academic tutoring and social-emotional learning support. In her second year, she took on a leadership role, organizing and leading community-based initiatives such as school beautification projects, allowing her to give back to the very community that helped shape her.

Today, Kelly continues to pour that same passion into her work as an educator, returning to Trinity as an adjunct lab instructor. Teaching in the same institution where she once learned is a full-circle moment, and she is deeply committed to mentoring students and creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

In addition to teaching, Kelly is gaining clinical experience as a psychology intern, where she supports intake processes, care coordination, and administrative operations while observing therapeutic practices. Her research interests center on the impact of identity-based stress and systemic challenges on families and youth, with a focus on improving mental health outcomes for marginalized communities.

Outside of her academic and professional work, Kelly enjoys staying active and connected to her interests. She was a member of Trinity’s softball team and continues to enjoy the sport, and she also knows American Sign Language (ASL), reflecting her commitment to communication and inclusivity.

Looking ahead, Kelly plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology and hopes to build a career that bridges research, education, and clinical practice. She remains dedicated to uplifting others through knowledge, service, and advocacy.
