After graduating with top honors from Trinity with a bachelor of arts in criminal justice in 2009, Jamie McGlothlen-Lepak continued her studies at Northeastern University, earning a master of science in criminal justice. Her master’s thesis was “Gender Identity: An Examination of Fears Concerning Reporting” and she also engaged in a directed study, focusing on hate crimes and police training, in which she explored police training models and how they relate to hate crimes and cultural diversity training.
After serving as a corrections officer in Wisconsin, she became a police officer in 2013 for the Greenville, South Carolina, police department. She works with the community by providing a visible presence to deter crime; responding to calls and requests from the public to assist at incidents; conducting initial investigations, gathering evidence, taking statements and reporting all incidents; and conducting arrests with due regard for all persons civil rights.
