Trinity Family Library

At the Sister Helen Sheehan Library

Making space for student parents.

The Trinity Family Library located in the basement of the Sister Helen Sheehan Library and is open and available for use anytime the main library is open.

Our Goals

The Family Library is a space meant to support student parents and their studying needs. The aim of this room is to be a tool which enables student parents to study, build community, and enjoy family time. Accompanying children ages 0-12 can read, play, and create while their student parent gets to study, group meet, or just take a moment to play with their child.

Offerings

The Family Library is fun family friendly welcoming environment that offers:

  • 3 desktop computers
  • Kid friendly & modular furniture
  • Kids Learning Stations with changing themes (Toddler Town, Craft, Reading Nook, Makerspace, STEM Center, and Calming Corner)
  • Grab n’ Go “Tiny Tiger” Bags
  • We can help student parents coordinate with specialized services, such as tutoring, or assist with any of the many services offered by the library.

How it works

We ask ALL visitors to please sign in and out when visiting the space. There will not always be a staff member in the room, but as long as the library is open, the space is available. Please note that student parents are responsible for watching their own children during visits and are never permitted to leave their children unattended. Visitors can interact with anything available in the room, but please remember to clean up when you are done. Reach out to the library for a full list of rules and policies related to the Family Library.
