Dr. Christine Carrino Gorowara
Dean
Dr. Christine Gorowara has extensive leadership experience in the accreditation of teacher education programs. She served as vice president of the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC), and then subsequently as vice president of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). She also participated in the founding of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). Dr. Gorowara has recently been elected to the board of the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE) and has been president of the Delaware Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. She has been an active leader and participant in many other educational organizations. She has participated in numerous initiatives addressing diversifying the teacher pipeline, ensuring culturally responsive competence in Delaware educator preparation graduates, and incorporating anti-racist curriculum in PK-12 schools. She co-led the founding of a Montessori charter school to serve low income families in Delaware.
Dr. Gorowara earned her B.A. in Mathematics at the University of Akron, M.S. in Mathematics at Ohio State, and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a Concentration in Mathematics Education at the University of Delaware. She also holds a certificate in Regulatory Analysis and Decision Making from the University of Pennsylvania Carey School of Law.

My passion for working in higher education began as a student ambassador at the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York, New York. I knew the collegiate sector was for me through my internship in the admissions office at my alma mater. While working in the fashion industry for several years, I yearned to serve the younger generation, which is what lead me to start a career in higher education. My mission is to instill confidence in the next generation. At a minority serving institution, we see the future in you. Our students are the majority, not the minority; you are the future doctors, lawyers, and politicians!
Promis Crawford
Program Coordinator and Advisor in the School of Education
Promis Crawford is an experienced higher education professional who thrives in student- centered environments. Ms. Crawford has served in various university capacities including Enrollment Services, Student Affairs, and Academic Advising. She holds a B.A. in Communications from Old Dominion University and an M.A. in Higher Education from Morgan State University. She provides academic advising services to graduate students in the School of Education as well as education major in the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition to her advising role, she provides coordination eforts for students in the School of Education seeking DC-approved teacher licensure.

Once you complete your DOI, please wait 24 to 48 hours for your advisor to send you an email with instructions on how to register for your classes.
Step 1: Log into your application portal.
Step 2: Click Declaration of Intent Form and Complete the form.
Step 3: Complete the form in its entirety and submit.

Once I DOI, how do I register for classes?
Upon the successful completion of submitting your DOI form, your advisor Mrs. Promis Crawford will connect with you via email to get you registered for your classes.
Can I continue into a Masters program once I complete the certificate course?
Yes, the program is stackable; which means you can then seamlessly enter into a M.Ed at your individual expense.
Is the program completely online?
The course is hybrid, with both mandatory online and in-person components. For each section, there will in-person sessions at the same time. Other coursework will be asynchronous with weekly assignments due online.
