Philosophy
I believe that, as educators, it is our job to cultivate and nurture the good in our students. As a math educator, I strive to incorporate the funds of knowledge and brilliance of all students through culturally sustaining practices. All work, including the work done in math, cannot be done in a silo, and should be done in collaboration with others. In my ideal math classroom, all students are interacting with each other, building off of each other’s ideas, and learning with each other and me.
I hope to instill not only a love and appreciation for the beauty of math, but also the knowledge to wield the skills of mathematics to unveil the social injustices in our community and work together to fight against them through collective action.
